When your computer broke down

688 views. 2012-11-29 16:07 |

I didn’t have time to hang out here for only two or three days, and I already missed you guys. Topic for today is the computer.

When your computer broke down, what kind of information and documents would you hope you have saved for backup? This question did not hit me until this morning. Nothing was special at the office for me this morning. I knew Microsoft Office software was not working very well, but it was fine, it happened a lot. And then when I heard the obvious abnormal sound in the CPU, I realized it was probably a real trouble. And it was. Our handsome IT colleague told me, there was no way other than change a new hard disk to fix my computer. It was at that moment I asked myself, was I regretful for what I have lost in the hard disk? The first answer came across my mind is yes. But when I think about it for the second time, I feel like it may not as bad as I thought it would be.

At work, I use the desktop or laptop computer almost every day. Among the hundreds of the file folders, the number of the folders I usually use should no more than 20. There are many folders I open and read them for a quarter, half a year, once a year or even less. Every time when I try to delete the unnecessary ones and clean the computer, I say to myself, ‘I will read this article or information tomorrow, it is useful and benefit for my work (or study, or anything).’ And when the cleaning work is done, I totally forget about the little resentment or self-blame to myself, and a new day has come, the untouched files, unread articles still stand there quietly.

So, in some sense, when my computer broke down unwarningly, it is a relief that I don’t have to decide which ones I should keep and whichs are to erase, it is out of your control, because it is not your call any longer. And that is a painful but good thing on the other hand. It means you will have a completely brand-new hard disk, no history, no old data, nothing.

Initiating a new project is difficult, but it is fun, and you have plenty of space to fulfill your dream. No limitation, no dogma, no experience. As longs as you have nice dream and you act on it, your dream will come true someday. Taking over an on-going project is more difficult, because the history, the complicated circumstances is a wealth as well as a block. Nevertheless, in the end, no matter a new hard disk or a used one, the most important thing is to keep the good things and info matter to you and delete the useless parts sternly. Be cool to yourself and your computer!

When the computer breaks down, usually it is like the end of the world  for some friends, because most of us rely on the computer for a lot of things like, contacting friends, entertainment, information, work, study, news, banking and shopping etc. All those thing stop when the computer breaks down. We would have to install all the programs again and all information on the computer is lost. Furthermore, there is no computer to use for several days.

However, we have to understand that most computer problems can be repaired and we don't have to lose all the information.

In everything, there is a price to pay. It is so convenient to have everything in one computer, but on the other hand, we lost everything when problems occur.
