Why Are Books So Expensive Now???

To be frank, I have a hobby that I like strolling around bookstores to pick some books I like. So some of my friends call be "literature youth".
When I was a high school student, I liked reading some literary works influenced by my Chinese teacher. No matter some foreign literature like "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" written by Milan Kundera or many Chinese proses by Liang Heng, I have read a lot. As a college student, I began to read some professional books on computers for I majored in Management Information System. Besides, "Youth Literary Digest" and "Readers" are my favorites which I can learn many moving stories from.
But I also have a bad habbit that rarely do I complete reading an entire book. So the situation is that I spend a lot of money to buy books but I can't finish reading them. Sometimes I only read several pages of a book and put it aside. It is waste of money and I know that. But I prefer buying books to read to borrow books from libraries. I'm a little weird, right?
Yesterday I bought three books in Shanghai Book Mall near my university. After putting them on the counter do I find that they cost me more than 100 yuan. Sooo expensive that I can hardly believe. A book named "in Search of Explanations for Everyday Enigmas"(牛奶可乐经济学)with only 200 pages cost me 39.5 yuan! It's a robbery!
Never do I thought the books would have cost me so much money. Why are books so expensive now?

but as the old saying goes, "书非借不能读也". you may try to borrow some books to read in order to save some money

I agree with your comment. Book is a tool which we can study the world. we can borrow from the library and other friend to read, or from the Internet.

and I have bought some novels in english version last year, but after I was home, i put them under my desk and never read one page until today. those three or four books has cost me around 200 yuan.

- i like reading,too.and i have a confused,as long as i go to a library named Zhongguancun Book Building in Beijing,i buy books every time,just like i have to buy ,but the situation is different while i go to other libraries.what was the worst,i like reading in that library,so i often buy many new books but i have no time to read the old…

- I agree with you, the original books are really expensive at present, frankly speaking, most of my money are cost by books. Some magazine, such as Girl's-Friend, Easy and RuiLi(瑞丽), I keep on buying regularly. And the famous novel, I also like to collect them, but just like you, many of them I only read half or less, hehe, it is really a bad habit.
