Being The Formal Intern

786 views. 2009-5-10 13:16 |

After being two months' temporary, I became a formal intern Last Friday which made me so excited!

As I said before, I am working in a multinational corporation named "Delphi Automitive System Holding Co., Ltd" as a half intern. That is to say, I am not a formal intern with no contract signed. But due to my hard work with a sense of responsiblity, my boss recommended me to HR and we signed a contract for four months, ending at the end of August.

I appreciated my friend Sunny who taught me and helped me so much in the corporation for she's a formal intern and worked there for nearly half a year. She knew better about the work and always assigned some easy work to me while she did some hard and complicated jobs herself.

Now I become the formal intern and I have an "apprentice" just as I did before. I feel a heavy burden of responsibility over my shoulder. Previously, I just did what Sunny told me to do and most of them were easy jobs. Now I should be more self motivated and organized. Not only do I need to assign job to myself and learn other things which I haven't learnt before, I also need to tell my apprentice how to do these work and give her some easy work. Last Friday, I tried to give her some work letting her finish on Monday since I won't come to the company that day. It turned out to be hard for me to do so. There were many things to do but I had no idea which to do first or which was more easier. How frustrating!

I always think myself a strong organized guy. So I have confidence in overcoming it. I'll try to list the work on a piece of paper and think it over. Maybe I just haven't done enough preparation and I'll prepare it right now~

One of the hardest aspects of business life is the ability to organise yourself and certainly to delegate work. (to delegate work = to give your work to someone else to do) When I was an intern last summer at an Engineering firm, I had a book in which I kept track of all the work and lab experiments I was supposed to be doing - that way I didn't forget to do anything!

There's little possiblity of promotion for me since they won't let an intern to be a formal employee. But I'll do my utmost to finish the job for I can learn some knowledge and experience through it which I value a lot.
Thank you anyway~

To look for another job for my boss told me that intern there couldn't stay to be the formal employee.
So I choose to work till August and then to look for another intern work~

Hehe, I agree with you. You'll never know whether this job is the best until you get it. Then you may regret making the decision but it's too late...
So in my eye, I won't be eager to get one which is not for my taste~
