Foods for Spring Festival

The Spring Festival is the most important festival for Chinese. It can be called Chinese Christmas Day. It is celebrated on the 1st day of the lunar month. It represent one year has passed, a new year’s already come.

Like Christmas Day in the West, we also have a great number of programs, but the food is the main character in the all events.

We will take feasts at home or in the restaurants, and watch the lantern exhibition with snacks.

In the dinner, toast for the harvest of one year and wish for better, and good luck this year. It is a gorgeous celebration to invite all family members to spend it together. Adults are assembled to make dinners. There’re a lot of special, delicious, beautiful foods made for party. Such as dumplings or jiaozi (one kind of dessert), niaogao or noodle. The former are made like gold ingot from ancient China. It represents good wishes for money and treasure. The latter means higher and higher one year after another, and to wish for good health and a long life. Fish and chicken are always served in the diner. Fish represents abundance, chicken means AU**IOUSNESS.
