Writing and Printing.

910 views. 2010-7-25 18:46 |

More and more people's correspondence is being printed instead of being written out by hand. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Write a 150-word composition and make your points of view clear.

In my opinion,in some aspects, it is a good thing for us, First, the printed letters are more clearer and easier to identify since someone's handwriting is hard to regonise (careless handwriting). second, the printed documents is much formaler than those which written by hand. so you can see it is commonly used in commercial district. Finally, printing is much quicker than writing by hand, it saves a lot of time,so you can do something else from the saved time. it will make you finish your work earlier. in one word, it is more efficient, so nowadays, more and more people prefer the doc. to be printed out instead of written out by hand.

Well, there are also some drawbacks. first, it will makes us loss of the ability to writing. for example, there is a man who's penmanship is very beautiful, but he do not need to write the materials by hand because there is a computer and printer for him. so, day after day, year after year, his penmanship will be degenerated, at least, the penmanship will not as attractive as it used to be. second, the written letters makes us feel more affinity than those printed letters. come to think of it, if one of your relatives,or a very close friend who is in another ciry or another province, he/she writes you a letter by hand and send it via a post office, once you received it, you looking at the penmanship which written by hand of your friend, you must feel very happy and very warmhearted, as if he/she is standing right in the front of you, you can feel it.

So, I think everything has its two sides. in some aspects it is a good thing for us, but on the other hand it also has its drawbacks.  Nothing is good or bad, but by comparison.

It is important for us to keep with the advancements of the modern society. Therefore, professional documents should be standardized and typed. The culture of writing will not be lost, because it will be used in other appororiate times. :)

I still prefer writing rather than printing, cause for me, a person's writing presents his personality, his characteristics, although I have to say sometimes printing is more convenient than writing!
Either extreme is not appropriate, use the right one when it's necessary!

Will Phones Kill Letter Writing?

There is a fashion nowadays, especially among the young people, to phone each other more often than write letters, which has been the traditional way of communication since the early part of human history. as far as I am concerned, I don’t side with the idea that phones are going to kill letter writing.

For one thing, as the main method of communication for most part of the history, letter-writing has a lot of advantages over the product of modern technology—the phone. Time-consuming as it may be, it conveys one’s feelings and emotions much more sincerely and completely than the phone does. The instant excitement caused by a call can never be in a position to rival the spontaneous joy when reading a letter from a devoted friend. For another, although the phone is being put into more frequent use, in many cases a formal or informal letter, rather than a short call, is required. For instance, nobody would consider it appropriate to invite a distinguished guest to a ceremony by simply giving him a call. In such circumstances, the only and the best choice would be no other than to write a letter of invitation.

However, I am not suggesting that we should abandon the phone for letter-writing. Actually, they are both important to us and neither will kill the other. Diversity of the communication means is just the reflection of the huge progress of human civilization.

downloaded from internet.  a very good article.
