Spring Festival wishes 2012 Year of the Dragon

2153 views. 2012-1-11 12:03

Year come, year go. Time pass so fast, the year has gone and a fresh new year of the dragon is coming. Friends are wondering what happened last year and where all our time has gone. Everyone have their own experience.

People always say "A year's plan starts in Spring", so the Spring Festival is a time when people make plans and wishes for the new year. A person who does not plan would achieve nothing. We all have to struggle for success. Wish your dreams would come true. The longest journey starts with the first step.

2012 marks the 4710th Chinese New
Year, and this is the year of dragon according to the Chinese calendar. The New Year festival in Hong Kong will start from January 22 (Chinese New Year' Eve) The lunar new year is celebrated throughout Asia including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand and Chinatowns in England and USA where there are large Chinese communities. The festive spirit is high and colorful everywhere.

The dragon is regarded as an auspicious symbol which stands for power, good luck, success, activity and happiness. 2012 year of the dragon.
It is a good year for events like marriage and childbirth. Chinese New Year is celebrated with fireworks, lion dancing, dragon dancing and cultural performances on the street. Families organize reunion dinners on New Year's Eve and make special preparations like spring rolls and Chinese dumplings. The younger ones await the exciting moments of receiving red packets from the elders and spend those money on things they always wanted. I remember clearly counting my red packets money and bought a nice gift for myself years ago..

What attract me most during the Spring Festival are the festive food and treats. Can't wait for the holidays, meeting old friends and visiting the homes of friends for greetings and... ahem... food.

Happy New Year of the Dragon to you all.

My favorite food for the New Year. Nien Kao.

Dragon Meat dish - imitation.

Tong Yuan sweet dessert.

Wish you a happy and fruitful new year. A question came upon me when I was reading your blog. Do you ever heard about "zodiacal year" or "year of fate"? People who were born in the year of the dragon should wear red clothes or at least a red waist-belt so as to keep bad luck away this  year.
