I see many ones publishing their blogs, some are for discussing different topics, some are describing their current moods, etc. That is good, but I suppose there should be some tips for us before publishing English blogs.
1. Double Check before you click "publish" button. When you are writing, you are focusing on how to describe the event itself, and may not be attention to the grammar and spelling of words and phrases. So, when you finish, it is necessary to double check there is no "typo" errors or mis-spelling words or grammar issues. That is the basic. When I see "typo", I am considering that you are not a careful man/woman, at least.
2. Try not use the same words/phrases twice. When you describe "happy", is it sound good to use different words or phrases each time you mention that? The variety of words you master is a important factor of your English ability.
3. Do not use “Chinglish”, say it in native ways. A good example is "how are you? how old are you?" even are translated as "怎么是你?怎么老是你?" Although it sounds like a joke, but Chinglish is a well-known habitual thinking way that our Chinese are always inclined to do. Anytime you are not sure about some usage, ask for Google or professional e-Dictionaries. That is time-consuming, but note that this is also the exact time you are improving!
4. Be patient, do not expect to accomplish in one action. For most of us, we don't have the pure English environment around us, and we only use English when we are on classes or at work or some special occasions. So we should have more patience. As long as we insist and put at least one article each week, I mean a well-organized article after carefully double check, we are moving forward. You must believe in that.
5. Learn from others' blogs or comments. Each time you see some expressions or phrases attracted and useful for you, grab it down from the Internet to your own check-list. Don't you have a useful words check-list? Make a one now and fill it frequently. But remember that you will not master it even if you see it, or hear it, or note down it or even understand it. You master it only by you use it by yourself.
6. Learn from American plays or films. American plays or films are always good sources for popular and native English phrases. Download them from Internet to your computer, and study from the characters' lines.
Following is my way to learn them: repeat every source three times. The 1st time is for Chinese title, which helps me understand the whole picture of the story. The 2nd time is for English title, which helps me to go through every lines one by one. Whenever meet some phrases or new words, I will pause the play and note it down to my check-list. Even searching in google is a common action when I am not sure about the meaning. (So you can see how search engine is used in a typical learning process). This may be slow, since line by line method is a intensive learning and time consuming, but it is the most important and efficient way to enlarge your vocabulary. In this way, a 25 mins play always cost me 1 - 2 hours at first, but with your vocabulary increasing, the time may shrink to 30 - 40 mins at last. When you do not have anything to note down sometime, your English is already stronger than before. The 3rd time is for no-title. Close the title and try to understand the lines with your ears. That is for listening. Sometimes you thought you are quite clear what they are saying, but without the title, suddenly you find that you cannot catch them up. That is the difference.
7. Constantly review and update your articles. We cannot make a perfect article once. Like all the writers will review and correct mistakes after their jobs are done, how can you be so confident that your writings are perfect without any errors? Even if you don't have spelling typo or grammar mistakes, you might also need to change some words or expressions when you have better ideas, right? It is not the truth that the more articles we publish the more progress we advance, it is that the more thinking through are made the more progress we achieve.
8. In reciting, we learn. I find that the recitation of a well-known speech is a fast path to improve your English. English can be learned simply by imitation. If we can blurt them out, they are part of our own dictionaries. So, recite more, your memory will enlarge, along with your English level.
There may other parts I omit, I will constantly update this article to append them in the end.
