The little prince
When I first opened the book The Little Prince, I was shocked. Not because it is an adult fairy tale, but its pictures in the book. Those fresh pictures remind me of my own childhood. In the past years, I collected many beautiful photos and pictures, until the day I found the book, I realized these are more fantastic than any one I ever had. I know it is the fairy tale that never disappears deep in my heart.
The writer, Saint-Exupéry devotes the book to an adult, who was ever a child. Every adult begins from a child. However, how many of us still know this point?
We live in cities, and we are young and busy. We are busy for almost everything. We walk as if we hurry to the toilets. We don’t have any time to have a rest. Not alone stopping to look at the flowers by the street, the flashing stars on a peaceful evening. We don’t have time to write letters, to see a literary movie, to enjoy a piece of music. What on earth do we do every day?
The little prince makes me understand something. In fact, I ignore so many beautiful things in my life. In fact, I have forgotten what I am.
We make the simple things complex, but the complex ones simple.
We leave our hometowns, leave our parents, to seek an opportunity outside. After that, we may spend more time shuttling between two or more cities. We love figures, and we measure everything with figures, and we are proud of them. We squeeze, we struggle, and we run, just for a living. But what is a living? What is a life? When we look back, could we find what are truly deserving things?
We are always taught to be mature, sophisticated, and we lose our curious heart so early. We try to be mature, try to pretend to be mature. We take everything for granted. We become accustomed to almost everything. Unluckily, there’re so many things we haven’t known around the world. Things are not as simple as we think.
We are adults. Please don’t forget we are children at the same time. We have our own ears and eyes. We need to touch the world, feel the world, and know the quiet of the nature. We need to enjoy the progression of the seasons, the color of the monsoon wind. We need to sing a song, write to a distant friend. That’s all we need to do.
We indeed, have grown up. Is that means we get fool as we grow up?
“If someone loves a flower, of which just one single blossom grows in all the millions and millions of stars.” If you want to touch the purest love in the world, you can’t miss The Little Prince. It is a fable about love and life.
