Dear Marilyn, I really miss you, my good teacher

   I really miss Marilyn very much, especially today, because many American friends arrived at Beijing, then take bus to Qinhuangdao. However, Marilyn could not come here. I think maybe she has some other thing to do which I can’t get. Her words still lingered in my ears though one year has passed: she said she would try her best to come to China if it is possible.

    Marilyn has lived a hard life for nearly sixty years. When she was young, her farther often drink to excess and always beat her heavily. The only way she can do is that prey for the god’s help kneeling beside the desk.

    When she was 17th, she stepped into the marriage hall with high hope and bright heart. To her disappointed, each words of her husband are full of lies after the handsome appearance. It was a lucky date, she said calmly, they got divorce ten years later in 7th, July 1977. For raising five children by herself, she did five jobs at the same time that we can imagine how hard she was at that time! But everything would be ok she believed, her grandson has been 20 years old now.

    A lot of people want to live a comfortable life after retirement. But Marilyn is not. She joins the Red Cross and teaches English to many countries without any payment including the fee of transportation paid by herself. I knew she saved pension to pay for the expense. For most of persons they must be by plane from American to China. Yet, for Marilyn, flying will be meaning much more expensive, she first took the long-distance bus from Omaha to San Francisco, then went to Hongkong by ship and last took train to Beijing.

    Without any reward, she still worked harder with great enthusiasm. She was so happy that like a child when we got a little progress. Of course I have indeed made a rapid progress by her teaching in English. And I was usually struck by her basic sincerity.

    She went back America in 15th, August last year. But she did not come to China, which I can not think of the reason. I really wish her all the best!

     God bless her for her earnest, caring and lovely qualities. Hope she find  her Mr.right and live a comfortable life!
