Brother Li, who twisted our arms to call him that way with the purpose of pretending to be younger, was one of the most distinctive English teachers I had ever met in high school. Until now, his age is still a mystery to all of us owing to his perfect concealment and foxy repartee.

He, with a fashionable crew cut and a shrewd smile, had a strong and pure Northeastern accent, which, especially when mixed with his American English, created an unbelivably humorous and comical effect.It was indeed a cruel ordeal for everyone in class to try our best to keep a straight face against our irresistably inner drive to a burst of wild laughter,

Brother Li, who had extremely tan,or say,dark skin , possessed an extreme preference for black clothes, which was beyong our understanding. I still remember that once I forgot to bring my glasses in class,and during his course I found myself having great difficulties in telling him apart from the blackboard. In this way, my searching eyes kept wandering throughout the whole class,eagerly to find that exact focus.

He had a tough-guy exterior and a pair of penetrating eyes ,which could directly kill us stonedead if anyone  was found to be distracted, Unsatisfied,he would then quietly and quickly pull out his exclusively“deadly weapon”---the chalk,and toss it exactly to the aimed target with a beautiful curve and perfect precision based on many years’ accumulated experience.After his last resort,an imperceptible smile with triumph would emerge on his face , while his commanding and compelling eyes frightened all of us into desperate study of English with our heart and soul.

Although several years have passed, the memories of Brother Li are still fresh and vivid in my mind.His distinctive personality and special teaching method helped me survive those three years of arduous struggle with lots of fun and unforgettable reminiscence.
