Sometimes we would ask ourselves, “How should we spend our life?” To do something big or just let the tides carry us along, never bothering to find out where our destination is? The fact is that yesterday is gone, and tomorrow is yet to come; only the present moment is truly ours. We humans seem to have the tendency to dream about something that is not real or only exists in a magical world. Then how to live in the present? I recommend what Hao Wanshan said in Lecture Room on CCTV.
According to him, the first state of living should be one in which you’re fully relaxed, both physically and mentally. Maybe it’s easier said than done, but surely you will benefit if you really try. Being relaxed doesn’t mean you just idle away your time. You have to do things well when they need to. And that has led us to the second state: You’re truly focused on something that deserves your attention. It could be your work or anything you really like to do. Nothing can be accomplished if we are unable to concentrate.
The third one is that you should be content with everything you have. And consequently, you’re pleasantly happy and grateful. It appears hard to be thankful in many cases. It can be too much for you to be grateful during the storms of life. Occasionally we have to accept cruel reality, no matter what, especially when you’re going through a particularly difficult or unhappy period of time. Very normal, very human. But remember this: there’s always something to be grateful for. For example: You’re in debt, but you’re not homeless. You lost your job, but you didn’t lose your health... No matter how bad things are, they could always be worse. So just start finding gratitude for what might have happened, but didn’t.
The last but not the least, we should try to be in a state of believing in yourself that you will overcome any difficulty or solve any problem by using your wisdom and intelligence. It may take some time or possibly a very long time, but eventually you will, somehow. You never know the great potential we humans have. Remember obstacles should be removed in a smart way.
