How to access Facebook in China

2493 views. 2011-6-6 20:13 |Individual Classification:Computers & Network|

Facebook is the world's largest social networking service and website with 600 million users around the globe. Sadly we can't access the website in China because it's blocked by firewall. What if you wanna see why it is so popular. Here are two ways to do so, both have their merits and demerits.

The first one is to use free web proxy. Google “free web proxy”, there are a lot of such websites. Type www.facebook.com in the proxy URL box and hit enter. Here you are on the famous facebook.com. It's a fast way to visit Facebook though, the shortcoming is you can't use it's full features. Because web proxy disables Java Script on which Facebook depends heavily. You'll even have trouble uploading your profile pictures.

The second way is to use a trial web proxy. Go to this site https://www.securitales.com/. You have to pay for it's services. But the site has a 20-minute-trial term for free. I think that's enough time to check what's up with your friends out there on facebook. By clicking the green link “Try it for free” under the “Sign up now” button you are redirected to the facebook page where you can either sign up (if you are new to facebook) or log in with your existing account. Enjoy!

Some advice: Sign up and manage your account using the second way, and browse what's on there with the first one. Both are inconvenience in one way or another. Of course you can pay for better services if you are crazy for facebook.

You may also wanna try twitter or youtube with this proxy. Just put down the address you want and click the Go button.

By the way, I just opened a Twitter account.
