a peace of mind

922 views. 2012-9-5 03:01 |

Worries haunted our minds like a ghost. Unforeseeable future, mechanical daily routine, lonely of mind, agitated desire for fortune, overwhelming longing for love and a life of security and abundance, forced respect to people of no merits, the marketing holocaust on the show 24/7, pushed all the masses into fierce competition and many were depressed into gloomy invisible pain. Anxiety and depression are spreading, boredom which used to be a daily part of life in times of yore, becomes all the more unbearable in modern days, while so many entertainment and distractions available. Envy and jealousy eat our heart from inside out. Prosperity and sophistication of life failed to bring the peace of mind to our life, for the ever increasing expectation is at the highest. Be slow, be patient, be simple, the wise told us so. But the opponent were too tough to overcome easily, we are deep in the bog of temptations and desires. We see farmers are quite content themselves with a simple life, but very few would follow suit. We see people with unyielding faith engaging in unusual calling with a satisfactory state of mind, few would venture force alike. A peace of mind becomes so precious that only few of wise ones are having it. I am one of the confusing minds, on the way exploring for such a mind of treasure, still confusing, still suffering, but keep exploring all the same.

Most of yong people feel the same way you describe above. We are in a dilemma- on one hand we aspire for a simple peaceful life to obtain  soul contentment, on the other hand, we are forced into fierce competitions to obtain materials which dominate the current society. Those who do not live in this way would be deemed to be outsiders. The lacking of faith and belief would decidedly account for that partly.

Faith and belief are indeed lacking in the young, in the process of urbanization and merchandization, many people get lost in the sea of temptations, dedonist is having only momentary pleasure but regret is the aftermath, wealth brought more greed,  the press is pushing people to be more competitive and to do what they disseminated, to cultivate our own consciousness, our own belief is a kind of defence to preserve our own mind.  we all need this skill, me included.

yes we have to do many things that we otherwise would never do. as you mentioned we sometimes have to show our respect to those we actually despise. however, that's, I guess, just real life. and it will remain for nobody-knows-how-long. it is kind of univeral. the  world is not complicated, including interpersonal relationship. it is our minds that make it seem so complex. it is said that one way, possibly the only way, is to think and live simple. life is a struggle, to some extent. but we don't have to suffer for things that are only for others to see or admire. just some random thoughts to share with you. we're all life explorers.

yeah, it's all up to our mind in reflecting the world, a value system of our own should be the defense against the chaotic world. A pastoral life is indeed to my fancy, simple, serene, and so peaceful. maybe, someday, i will get to the point where nothing worries me, see all the things happening, bad or good, from high above like the God. hope i am not being blasphemous. Still, wish you all the best.

I have all the problems you've mentioned above. Time adds experiences, but confusion, insecurity, frustration still go deep to the bones, and the peace of mind is always something I am fighting for. Hope you are a better learner than I. Good luck and best wishes.
