Untouched by flames of love

Some say that the golden era of the talent contest is over. Given the recession in the music industry, there are fewer winners becoming promising stars.

But Hu Xia, the Season 6 champion of one million star, a Taiwanese televised singing competition, is determined to be an exception.

Hu, from Nanjing, Guangxi, debuted in late 2010 and endeared（使受喜爱） himself to listeners with his gentle charm and pure voice. Hu is now ready to follow that up with his second album flame of love, which was released on February 24.

It’s no surprise that the album was well-received even before it came out with the success of the romantic blockbuster you are the apple of my eye, its theme song, those years, sung by Hu, has easily become one of the biggest hit songs of Chinese pop in 2011.

Riding on the success of the heart-felt song, flame of love further explores a more romantic and passionate side of Hu.

However, the 22-year-old singer, who is good at embracing（采用，接受） love songs, doesn’t have a love life.

“I know, that’s kind of ironic,” Hu joked at the press conference for his new album last week.

Hu explained he’s shy and lacks confidence because the first time he had a crush on a girl in junior high school it didn’t turn out well.

“I wrote a letter to her. She refused to go out with me and read the letter in front of my classmates,” Hu said. ”Totally embarrassing.”

So, when will he know that he’s ready for a relationship?” Probably after the girl says she likes me first,” Hu said.

Apart from his lack of dating experience, Hu is just like any other 22-year-old. He goes to the gym, stays at home, surfs the Internet and listens to music.

“yes, my friend have told me many times that I should go out more to clubs or anywhere else I could meet people,” Hu said.

“And maybe I should. If I want a girl-friend, at least I should make an effort to meet more girls, right?”
