Guzzling on buses is disgusting

There is nothing worse than getting on the train home from work with a “public transport eater”.

People who decide public transport is their own dining room and proceed to devour（吞吃） entire plastic containers of leftovers during the rush hour.

You’re already hungry, wating patiently to get home for dinner, and then you smell it. I’m still undicided what is wors: if the food smells bad or good.

When it smells bad it can be a suffocating（使窒息） experience, and you try to breathe creatively to block out the stink. But if it smells good? Your mouth waters and your stomach grumbles（咕哝）.

There are acceptable forms of eating on public transport. Small things, with little or no smell, and minimal（最小的） “crunch”（嘎吱嘎吱地咀嚼）will keep your fellow passengers off your back. Just don’t start on spathetti bolognaise（意大利番茄牛肉面） or curry.

Now, public transport aside, I see no problem with eating in public. In Australia we take every opportunity to set outside an enjoy fine weather at mealtimes. Barbeques at the beach and picnics in the park are traditional.

Often I buy lunch from a restaurant and take it to a green area to eat. It seems a shame to waste a beautiful day inside an office or restaurant. I like to breathe fresh air and sit in the sun while eating.

Eating outdoors is also a great opportunity to reconnect with your surroundings, whether it’s in the city or in a botanical（植物的） garden.

Otherwise, you may miss out on what’s happening around you。 During one lunch break I was a massive street are display- an artist drew a beautiful picture in chalk on the pavement.
