I have been working for almost ten years since I started working in 2001. Frankly speaking, I have experienced a lot in work, and I have a deep feeling about work. Now I can deal with work easily, what’s more, I really enjoy myself at work. So I am going to write some stories that happened to me in my career life. I hope the stories can benefit you.

The key word: phone

Whatever your position is in company, you need to call the phone and answer the phone. I have a good babit that I will make some preparation, for example, what I should say over the phone before giving somebody a call. Because I find that sometimes I concentrate on calling so that I may forget the important matters.

In 2005, I worked in a pump sales company. The sales manager often made personal call. I should first introduce her to you. She was very capable, coming from Zhejing Province. She rented a house and lived alone. Her family was concerned about her marriage and introduced a man for her. It was a routine job for her to ring him up at noon everyday. Sometimes she was so excited that she could talk with him for an hour, sometimes they quarred just for a trivial, consequently she hung up at once and she was in a bad mood the whole afternoon. She didn’t care how we would think of her.

I worked in an ad company in 2008. Both I and Fiona were sales assitants, but we were divided into two teams. I would answer the sales manager’s call if he was not in, and wrote down something that I should tell him. While Fiona answered no phone but the phone at her desk, she was afraid of taking responsibility. Moreover, if the sales manager asked her to do something, her face would show reluctance.

I worked for a foreign trade company a few years ago. My boss would get mad if he knew that nobody answered the phone in our office. Sometimes the boss was away, even the phone was ringing, the voice could awaken the dead, however, my colleagues predended not hear it and being engaged in their works. It is I who answered the phone.

Take calling up seriously, which is a big deal, to some extent.
