What Has Modern Technology Brought Us?
Nowadays science and technology is developing so rapidly that people can hardly catch up with its pace. While some people are enjoying whatever modern technology has brought us, there are others who stand against it. As for me, modern technology surely has both its advantages and disadvantages, but generally speaking, it has brought us more benefits than drawbacks.
Firstly, there is no denying the fact that modern technology has made life more convenient and more comfortable. The most obvious example should be the worldwide applied modern technology — the Internet. It provides us with a fast and convenient way of communication, obtaining information and entertainment, which was previously unimaginable. Secondly, with new technology, we can do work more efficiently. The computer and other technological devices can save our time and energy. Thirdly, new technological innovations in medicine in recent years have greatly reduced the rate of infant mortality and prolonged our life expectancy. Finally, some people criticize that new technology has taken away jobs from people since machines have taken place of human labor, but we should also realize that new jobs are coming up because of new technology. All in all, everything has its advantages and disadvantages, and modern technology is no exception. But the most powerful aspect of technology lies in its unbounded potential to solve the problems that come alongside its well-intended purposes. In my point of view, modern technology is improving our life rather than degrading it.
