“Did you know I could tell time by the piano?” asked one friend of another .
“你相信我可以由钢琴知道现在几点钟吗？”一位老兄向他的朋友问道。
“You’re kidding,” replied his companion dubiously.
“别开玩笑了！”他的朋友怀疑地回答。
“I’ll show you,” said the first man as sat down at the piano and started to hammer out a martial tune.
“那我试给你看，”说着那位老兄就坐在钢琴前开始弹起一首进行曲。
Within seconds came a pounding on the wall, and an angry voice shouting, “Hey, you son of a bitch, don’t you realize it’s three o’clock in the morning?”
几秒钟后墙壁传来捶打声，一个愤怒的声音叫道“：嘿！你他妈的，你知不知道现在是凌晨三点钟？”
英语知识点解说：
1.remarkable a. 惊人的；了不起的
例：Once upon a time, Taiwan was remarkable for its beauty.
（很久以前，台湾美丽的风景曾闻名于世。）
2.talent n. 才干，天分
talented a. 有才能的
be talented in... 在…… 有才华
例：If your child is talented in tennis, you should certainly encourage him.
（如果你的小孩有网球的天分，你一定要鼓励他。）
3.companion n. 伙伴（可数名词）
company n. 陪伴；同伴（不可数名词，作集合名词用 ）；公 ，商号（可数名词）
keep sb company 陪伴某人
=accompany sb

4.dubiously ad. 怀疑地
5.hammer out... 拟定（计划）；绞尽脑汁来解决（问题）
*hammer 出自名词，原指“榔头”。本文指“用力弹奏”。

6.martial a. 好战的；尚武的
martial law 戒严法
martial tune 进行曲
例：Don't worry; Dr. Douglas is martial in appearance but gentle in manner.
