A surgeon returned from a safari in Africa.
一位外科医生刚从非洲狩猎回来。
“How did it go?” asked his colleagues.
“这次打猎顺利吗？”同僚问道。
“Oh, it was very disappointing,” replied the surgeon. “I didn’t kill a thing. In fact, I’d have been better off staying here in the hospital.”
“喔，实在太令人失望了，”外科医生答道“。我什么也没猎杀到，实际上，还是待在医院里比较有成就感。”
英语知识点解说：
1.surgeon n. 外科医生
physician n. 内科医生
2.safari n. 在野生动物园狩猎；探险
3.How did it go? （打猎进行得如何？）
=How did your hunting go?
=How was it going
另外平常朋友见面问候也常用此句，但 be 动词为现在式。以下例句都有“How are you?（你好吗 ？）”的意思。
How is it going?
How are you doing?
How is everything going?
How are you getting along?
How have you been?

5.disappointed a. 感到失望的
disappointing a. 令人失望的
disappointment n. 失望
例：Tom was disappointed by Mary's lack of response.
（汤姆对于玛丽没有反应感到失望。）
6.be better off 生活过得较好（乃由 be well off 转变而来）
例：Don't you think you'd be better off in a different line of work?
（你不认为你在别的行业会较有发展吗？）
