A Flat Fire
While driving along a country road in Vermont，my husband thought he had a flat fire. Stopping at a combination general store and gas station，he said to the proprietor，“I'm afraid my tire may be going flat and I wonder if you'd be kind enough to look at it.”
After a moment of contemplation the Vermonter said，“Afraid there's nuthin'I can do by lookin'at it.”

我丈夫在弗尔蒙特沿着乡间公路开车时，觉得轮胎破了。他把车停在一个兼营杂货的加油站前，对店主说：“我的车胎恐怕是破了，能不能请你帮忙看一看？”
那个弗尔蒙特人想了一会儿说：“光看看恐怕不行吧。”
